Play is learning and learning is play.
Waterbabies uses a gentle, loving, child-centered approach to teach water adjustment, safety and basic swimming skills. We use developmentally appropriate, songs and games to introduce the basic swim skills because we believe that "play is learning and learning is play".
We believe, in order to create a really successful water experience, we must partner with parents in the aquatic education of their child. Partnering together means we welcome any questions and feedback about your child's experience. We encourage parents to move at the child's pace, applying the technique to the child, rather than the child to the technique.
Our goal is to empower parents by teaching them the skills to teach their child to swim. Parents do most of the handling of their child in the water and instructors are there to "coach" parents on the techniques. Instructors and parents model what we are asking the child to do. "Rather than doing it to them, we are doing it with them". Parents will introduce their child to the joy's and pleasures of the water while building confidence and self esteem.
